La banditaccia
La Banditaccia is an organic farm located on the slopes of Mount Amiata sacred to the Etruscans, with splendid 360-degree views of the nearby Val d'Orcia and other Tuscan landscapes in the area.
The earliest traces of the farm and its main farmhouse can be found in Leopold maps from the 1700s, and today it is afamily-run business producing wines and oils, in the midst of DOCG Montecucco for wine and DOP Seggiano for oil.
In the more than 110 hectares of the farm, among the oak woods and the Zancona stream that acts as a border, there are several olive groves with more than 1,200 olive trees, with centuries-old plants of the Olivastra Seggianese variety, while the vineyards, mostly Sangiovese, grow on stony soils of volcanic origin, yielding grapes of exceptional quality that form the ideal base for making great wines.
